Full launch on two portals

In September Net-Safe was officially launched on the community portal heste-nettet.dk following five months of beta testing with 500 users. The beta only resulted in minor improvements in the registration process. However, a main feature of Net-Safe is that users should only be required to submit information relevant to the functions he or she wants to use on a portal or company website.

Consequently a basic registration has been introduced which only includes phone number and/or email address validation. Only when a user attempts to use a portal function requiring further information he is required to enter and validate these with Net-Safe. Heste-nettet.dk will offer several functions requiring only a basic Net-Safe registration.

Early in October the new combined networking and dating portal NoFakePeople was launched with Net-Safe login. As indicated by the name, NoFakePeople wants to position itself as a portal for persons willing to expose part of their true identity.

Support for OpenID2 og Inames currently awaits finalization of extensions to the OpenID protocol which has taken longer time than expected. The long term perspectives and ambitions for OpenID, however, have not diminished. On the contrary initiatives such as the workshop Datasharingsummit in September further ignited efforts to provide users control of the information residing on social networks. Even some of the major actors now in priciple agree that a user should be able to move data between social networks and communicate across these. There is however also a wide acceptance that it will be a long and complicated process to achieve this goal.

One thing is for sure. Net-Safe will continue with leading edge support for new initiatives and practical functions, providing users better control of their information and associated portals opportunities to enhance and innovate their services.
